The accused allegedly also ripped off Singh’s turban and also torn his wife’s clothes. The couple suffered minor injuries in the attack. A complaint was lodged by the men by the police, but no arrests were made till Sunday sparking angry among the members of the community. Talking to (HT)  Balbir Singh Head granthi of Adarsh Nagar Gurudwara said removing turban from a Sikh’s head was an insult to the religion. The dastaar — as the Sikh turban is known — is an article of faith for the community and wearing it has been made mandatory by the founders of Sikhism.

He added to his statement “that forcible removal of man’s turban was an insult and will not be tolerated, he warned the authorities of impending agitation  if the accused are not arrested soon.”
