Addressing a press conference on Friday (June 20), Paramjit Singh Sarna claimed that former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s ‘soft corner’ towards Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal had stalled the formation of a separate Gurdwara Parbandhak committee in Haryana.

He, however, stated that if the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) had been working properly, there would be no need for establishing separate committees.

He also condemned Parkash Singh Badal and SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar for saying that Separate Gurdwara Parbandhak committee for Haryana would divide Sikhs. He said Parkash Singh Badal and Avtar Singh Makkar had issued the statement for their vested interests.

Jaswinder Singh Baliyewal, Punjab state president of the SAD (Delhi) and Sarna’s brother Manjit Singh Sarna were among those who accompanied him.
