Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab (May 04, 2014): According to a news published at YesPunjab.Com, [t]he president of the youth wing of Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar (Mann) said on Friday (May 02) that the Akal Takht jathedar had played a ‘cruel joke’ with the Sikh community by announcing a small punishment of washing utensils to state revenue minister Bikram Singh Majithia.
The guilty should have been excommunicated from the community for distorting a “shabad (hymn)” from Gurbani.
Citing an example, Randev Singh Debi, president of the youth wing of the Mann Dal reportedly said that even Guru Har Rai Ji had awarded punishment of excommunication to his own son Ram Rai for distorting the hymns of Guru Granth Sahib.
In a press release issued by SAD (Amritsar), Randev Singh Debi also added that the punishment awarded to Bikram Majithia was not as per the tenets of the Sikh panth and added that Badal Dal patron Parkash Singh Badal was also guilty of making a statement in favour of Majithia that the latter had committed a mere mistake.
