Hyderabad: After the NIA court earlier dropped all charges related to Ajmer Sharif blast case against Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) activists Swami Aseemanand earlier last month, the local court here on Friday granted conditional bail to him in Mecca masjid blast case, the accused was released from Chanchalguda jail on Friday. This is the first time he has walked free.

It was reported by the media that Aseemanand was released from Chanchalguda Jail after formalities of his bail on March 23, including surrendering his passport, an undertaking not to leave Hyderabad without the court’s permission and giving a surety of Rs 1 lakh, were fulfilled.

While interacting with the media, his Hyderabad-based lawyer Anthony Reddy said “Aseemanand walked out of jail at 5 pm and was whisked away in a car by one person who had come to receive him. Anthony Reddy further said that he seemed to know that person and went away in the vehicle. “I do not know with whom Aseemanand went. He did not informed me.’’

“He was released on bail today and he is free to go anywhere he wishes. He is supposed to appear again in the NIA court here on April 13 in connection with the Mecca Masjid case and he has assured me that he would be back on that day,” his lawyer further added to his statement.

Apparently, Swami Aseemanand is still one of the prime accuse in the Samjhauta Express train blast case that took place on 18th February 2007 in the state of Haryana which claimed around 60 innocent lives. Meanwhile, it is reported that the Hyderabad police has launched an exercise to locate his whereabouts as he might be needed by the Haryana police in relation to the Samjhauta Express train blast case, but the Hyderabad police as denied any approach made by the Haryana Police.

“We only know that he was taken in a vehicle as soon as he walked out of jail. We have the registration number of the vehicle and CCTV footage of a few places,” an officer said. “We are trying to ascertain where he was taken and whether he is staying overnight in the city or is being taken by investigation authorities of other cases in which he is allegedly involved in. Investigation is still on,” reads a quote  from the statement given by an anonymous police  officer to the Indian Express (IE).
