Moga bypoll – Counting begins; Five rounds over; Badal Dal candidate Jain leading with more than 12K votes

Moga, Punjab (February 28, 2013): As per information the counting of votes for Moga constituency bypoll began at Moga amidst tight security at around am. The polling for this seat was held on February 23, 2013.

According to recent reports after five rounds of counting, ruling Badal-BJP combines candidate Joginderpal Jain was leading by more than 12, 000 votes.

According to information the counting is expected to be over in 14 rounds and final results may come by late afternoon.

It is notable that there were ten contestants for Moga seat that had fell vacant after Congress MLA Joginderpal Jain joined the ruling Badal  Dal and resigned from his membership to the State assembly. It is considered that main contestants for this seat were Joginderpal Jain (Badal Dal) and Vijay Kumar Sathi (Congress).

Some media sections have reported that Joginderpal Jain is heading towards victory but the final result is expected to be announced by the evening.
