Ropar: As per the media reports a district court on Monday granted interim bail to Aam Adami Party (AAP) Ropar MLA Amarjit Singh Sandoa in a case of alleged molestation.
Earlier, the legislature applied for anticipatory bail in the court of District and Sessions Judge BS Sandhu after the police filed a chargesheet against him on November 21. The Chief Judicial Magistrate had summoned Sandoa to appear in the court on December 12.
Amarjit Singh Sandoa’s former landlady lodged a police complaint against him, alleging that he had pulled her dupatta and pushed her when she went to his house to demand pending rent and other dues on July 28.
The police had booked him under various sections of the IPC.
The court today issued a notice to state for December 16. The judge ordered that in case Sandoa surrendered before the Chief Judicial Magistrate within seven days, he may be released on bail. The MLA has also been directed to join the investigation.
