Amritsar, Punjab (April 22, 2014): The Dal Khalsa has strongly condemned the murderous attack on Pak scribe and Geo News senior anchorperson Hamid Mir and termed it an attempt to muzzle his free voice.

In a press statement issued here on Tuesday, party’s Secretary Kanwar Pal Singh said Hamid was highly professional and well known face within the journalistic fraternity of this sub-continent. He said Mir family including his father Professor Waris Mir had a courage of calling a spade a spade. The family has a tradition of raising voice against the oppressor class.

He said both the brothers (Hamid and Amir Mir) had a sympathetic view towards the Sikh people and their cause. “I met them in 90’s and found them nice, sober and helpful persons”.

In an e-mail message to Hamid’s family members, Kanwar Pal Singh has expressed solidarity and sympathy with them and prayed for the speedy recovery of Hamid.

He hoped that the judicial commission set up on the orders of Pak PM Nawaz Sharif would expose the real culprits behind the attack.
