Brampton: A press release by New Democratic Party (NDP) says New Democrats in Brampton East have officially nominated Harb Kahlon to be their candidate in the upcoming federal election.

“As a dedicated community leader, Harb will bring a wealth of experience to the role of Member of Parliament,” said NDP Leader Tom Mulcair. “Harb will continue to work hard to help Brampton’s middle-class families get ahead. I’m thrilled to have him on our team.”

Since obtaining his MBA at the Schulich School of Business, Kahlon has served as consultant to Canada’s largest banks on strategic initiatives and regulatory projects to build a stronger, more stable economy for Canadian families. Living in Brampton with his wife Mindy, Kahlon’s grassroots work includes a Canadian staple; he was part of the original team to bring Hockey Night in Canada and NBA Raptors Basketball in Punjabi to CBC.

“After years of grassroots work in my community, I’ve seen that families are working harder than ever but just can’t get ahead. Tom has a concrete plan that will help middle-class families in Brampton,” said Kahlon. “Tom is also a principled and experienced leader, whose recent opposition to Bill C-51 was so important. I’m proud to be on his team.”
