Mohali/SAS Nagar: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) today sought more time to file modified applications seeking protection of witness in various cases that are being prosecuted by the NIA.

The proceedings were held in the court of special NIA judge Nirbhau Singh Gill in Mohali and all arrested persons, including Jagtar Singh Jaggi, Ramandeep Singh Bagga, Hardeep Singh Shera, were presented from various jails through video conferencing.

The court was expected to hear arguments on NIA’s application seeking protection of certain witnesses but the NIA urged the court to allow it more time to filed corrected applications as earlier applications had many mistakes and discrepancies.

It is notable that the NIA is asking the court to completely blanket the information about some witnesses and their depositions.

Meanwhile, on the request of NIA the NIA court today discharged Shiv Sena leader Amit Arora and four others in Kidawi Nagar case (RC/26/DLI/17). This case was related to firing at Kidwai Nagar based ‘shakha‘ of Hindutva outfit Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS).

The Punjab police had booked Amit Arora and four others in this case but now the NIA has got them discharged.
