Amb Sahib/ Mohali, Punjab (December 07, 2013): It is a matter of concern that the Social-media, especially the facebook is increasingly becoming a hub of rumours related to Bandi Singh Rihai Mocha. After the identification of fake Punjab Bandh calls, another act of misguiding and wrong information has been detected by the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN).
On the evening (Punjab time) of December 07, 2013 Sikh Siyasat News’ staff noticed that a document on the letter-head of Sant Samaj was in circulation. The document (in Punjabi language) titled as “Press Note” reads:
“Sant Ranjeet Singh to begin indefinite hunger strike from 9 December: Sant Samaj.
Sant Samaj and all the Mahapurakhs held a very important meeting in wake of struggle initiated by Bhai Bakshish Singh for the release of Sikh prisoners. In this (meetings) it was decided after thorough discussion that until the success in this national cause the Sant Samaj shall begin the hunger strike like Bhai Gurbaksh Singh. Under it, Sant Ranjit Singh Dhadiranwale expressed the will to start the hunger strike before anyone else, which was accepted with Jaikaras.
Issued by:-
Guru Panth Da Dass Sant Harnam Singh Khalsa Bhindranwale Mukh-Sewadar, Damdami Taksal Jatha Bhindran Mehta President: Gurmat Sidhant Parcharak Sant Samaj”.
On investigation the Sikh Siaysat News (SSN) found that this was a forged document and no such press note was issued by the Sant Samaj. Someone had used Sant Samaj’s letter-head to prepare this false document.
Bhai Harpal Singh Cheema, who is looking after the conduct of Bandi Singh Rihai Morcha from Amb Sahib Mohali told SSN over phone the document was forged as Sant Samaj leaders have confirmed that no such press release was issued by them.
He said that it has also come to their notice that rumours were being spread about the morcha particularly over Facebook. He said that some people are spreading rumours on the name of Bhai Damandeep Singh Khalsa by unauthorizedly using his photos to make false and misleading posters.
He agreed that these rumours could threaten the integrity of the morcha initiated for the release of Sikh prisoners languishing in various jails in India despite serving the terms of their sentences.
He said that persons who were issuing these false posters etc. were causing harm to the cause of marcha.
Bhai Harpal Singh Cheema appealed to the Sikh sangat to remain vigilant and do not believe any suspicious or sensational information before proper verification.
