Australia: Gurjant Singh of Australia today held a Facebook live session after media reports mentioned his name in a recent case of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act registered by the Kotkapura police.
Gurjant Singh of International Sikh Federation (ISF) who is known for holding Facebook live sessions against vulgar singing, said that media reports carried his photograph and name in haste and without verification.
He said that there are many organisations with names like International Sikh Federation, International Sikh Youth Federation and International Sikh Students Federation. He said that if one removes the term ‘youth’ or ‘student’ the name of all organisations is International Sikh Federation. Secondly, there are many Gurjant Singh in Australia, he said while insisting that he was not the Gurjant Singh who was being mentioned by the police.
Gurjant Singh said that he was not involved in any case whatsoever and he was open for any investigation in this regard.
He said that he was busy in shooting of a song and he would sue the media outlets for unduly linking him to the said police cases.
It is notable that the Kotkapura police claimed to have arrested two persons who were found carrying a weapon and some cartridges after their motorcycle met with a an accident with a car. The police booked them in case FIR no. 73 dated 10.05.2018 registered at Korkapura City police station. The FIR is registered under sections 17, 18, 19 and 20 of UAPA and 25, 54, 59 Arms Act. The police maintained that one Gurjant Singh of Australia, who has come into limelight with his Facebook live sessions and is linked to International Sikh Federation, is also named in this case.
Notable further that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has also named a Gurjant Singh of Australia in NIA case number RC/18/DLI/17 which pertained to the killing of Hindutva/RSS activist Ravinder Gosain. The NIA chargesheet has follwing details: Gurjant Singh Dhillon s/o Harbhag Singh. According to the NIA Gurjant Singh’s address in Punjab is VPO Behlolpur, Tehsil Samrala, Khanna District Ludhiana, Punjab and his address in Australia not known.
