To, Stephen Harper, Prime Minister of Canada, Ottawa, Canada. Dear Mr. Harper, Over the years we have always felt that Canada is a great champion against Human Rights violations and innocent killings around the world. But lately we have seen that always isn’t the case. It mostly depends upon the Business and political relations with certain countries. In some cases the Canadian Govt. is quick to raise voice against few innocent killings and Human Rights violations in certain countries. But the same Canadian Govt. has ignored and failed to raise voice against Human Rights violations and thousands innocent killings in certain countries. It is a very sad reality that Business and political affairs dictate Govt. on such an important issues. In about ten days India’s PM Modi will be coming to Canada. He is the same Mr. Modi who was denied visa to Canada and other western countries because thousands of innocent persons belonging to a minority religion were killed in Gujrat state in 2002, with him as head of state and Govt’s role in innocent killings. But now because India’s Hindu majority has voted for him and elected him to be the PM. We understand that Canadian Govt. has to welcome him for Diplomatic, Political and Business reasons. But we’ll still like to see Canadian Govt. to raise the issue of Human Rights violations and innocent killings with Indian PM Modi. Over the years, The Sikh community in Canada has been approaching the Canadian Govt. and PM Stephen Harper about thousands of innocent Sikhs killed in India in [June 1984] army attack on [Harmandar Sahib]. And then in 1984 Sikh Genocide that was organized, led and executed by the ruling Congress Govt. killing thousands of innocent Sikhs, raping hundreds of women and burning their houses and businesses in many cities but especially capital city New Delhi. And later on Indian Govt. continued their agenda and killed thousands of innocent Sikhs in fake encounters and police atrocities in Punjab. Even Jaswant Singh Khalra Human Rights activist who was raising voice against innocent killings and coming up with names and numbers of 25000 innocents being killed, was killed by the Govt. So far in 30 years the Govt. of India has failed to provide Justice to the victim families and to punish the guilty persons involved in innocent killings. Over the years the Indian Govt. has often complained about [alleged] Sikh “terrorists” in Canada. But for some reason Canadian Govt. has failed to openly reject those charges. But I hope this time Mr. Harper will ask how come smart Indian Govt. and Intelligence agencies know about Sikh terrorists in Canada, but strangely those same smart Intelligence agencies and Govt. don’t know anything about guilty persons who killed thousands of innocent persons in 1984 Sikh Genocide in their own Capital city? Doesn’t that sound fishy and shows Double standards of Indian Govts. and it’s Intelligence Agencies against minorities? Now once again we are requesting Canadian Govt. to ask the Indian Govt. to stop Human Rights violations and innocent killings of minorities in India and provide Justice to the victim families and punish the guilty persons. Now PM Modi’s visit will be a very good opportunity for Mr. Harper to raise those issues with PM Modi. Thousands of Sikhs, Muslims and Christians have been killed in various parts and states of India. And all the ruling Govts. have failed to provide Justice to victim families and to punish the guilty persons. We understand that Business and political relations are very important to Canadian Govt. But at the same time it is very important for Canadian Govt. to follow UN Charter to raise voice against Human Rights violations and innocent killings. So Dear Mr. Harper, Please make sure to raise these important issues with Mr. Modi and ask his Govt. to stop such minority innocent killings and to provide Justice to the victim families and to punish the guilty persons. Kanwal Jit Singh Gill. Surrey, B.C.
