Patiala: The prosecution sought two weeks’ police remand on the grounds that they had to thoroughly quiz Tara in connection with the Rulda Singh murder case to go into the whole conspiracy as Tara had allegedly imparted arms training to a main accused in the case while hiding in Pakistan.
However, Tara’s counsel denied the allegations. Later, the court send Tara to a five day-police remand.
“Police had asked for 14 days’ remand, but the court reduced it to fivesaid Jagtar Singh’s lawyer, Baljinder Singh Sodhi.
“Investigation is already done on the funding. There is no link or evidence with them. There was no investigation on the women dropped by them in a car and there is no evidence that somebody has seen the shot out” Advicate Sodhi reportedly told the court.
“They are just trying to make the case high profile. They claimed that they have been given training by Pakistan to use the weapon, but they do not have any direct evidence for any of them. Forty-six witnesses have been examined,” he added.
General Prawut Thawonsiri, a spokesman for the Thai police, said Tara had been sent to India on Thursday night after the Supreme Court approved an extradition request from New Delhi.
A police team led by Rajinder Singh Sohal, was in Bangkok for liaison and co-ordination with the Thai authorities in addition to another three-member police team.
After being presented in the court on Saturday, a team of Patiala police will seek his custody in the Rulda Singh murder case.
Tara was arrested in Thailand’s eastern province of Chon Buri on January 5.
