Peermohammad want SGPC to clear it’s stand on Kumbh Mela

Amirtsar, Punjab (January 11, 2013): All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF) president Karnail Singh Peermohammad has urged the the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) to clear its stand on Kumbh Mela.

His statement comes in the wake of SGPC accepting invitation extended by Rashtriya Swayam-Sewak Sangh (RSS) cheif Mohan Bhagwat to attend the Kumbh mela.

Condemning the SGPC’s decision, Peermohammad said the Sikhs are a distinct nation which does not believe in superstition and by SGPC willing to attend the mela, the Sikh leadership is attempting to bring the Sikhs back towards superstition against which the first Sikh guru, Guru Nanak Dev had started crusade.

Maintaning that Sikhs are known for its valour and bravery, the AISSF president added that Sikhs respects all the religions but forgetting one’s own glorious past and following the tenets of other religion is not acceptable.
