Punjab Police and Dera Sirsa head gets time to decide next move till April 22 in Bathinda case

Bathinda, Punjab (February 23, 2013): According to media reports the court of chief judicial magistrate Harjeet Singh adjourned the case against the Dera Sauda Sirsa head Gurmeet Ram Rahim till April 6, 2013. He is reportedly asked to appear before the court in person on next hearing.

It is notable that the Dera head is facing charges of blasphemy for certain activities performed in 2007. The Dera head had attempted to derogate the sacred Sikh traditions in 2007 by attempting to personify himself as Tenth Sikh Guru – Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji.

The impact of adjournment is that the police and Dera Sauda Sirsa (DSS) have got around six weeks to plan their next move in this case.
