November 11, 2017 | By

Moga/ Ludhiana: Police remand of UK citizen Jagtar Singh Johal was extended till Nov. 14 by a duty magistrate in Moga. The police was to present Jagtar Singh before a regular magistrate in Baghapurana but the police presented him before a duty magistrate in Moga after the Bagharpurana magistrate went on leave.

Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur, who went to Baghapurana and later Moga to represent Jagtar Singh in the court told Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) over phone that the family members of Jagtar Singh had engaged a lawyer at Moga, who had informed the court in this regard but the police secretly presented Jagar Singh before the duty magistrate and even his counsel was informed. Thus a plea against extension of police remand could not be raised before the magistrate.

Advo. Manjhpur said that a delegation of British High Commission had also arrived in Moga to meet Jagtar Singh but event they could not meet him as the whole process was kept secret by the police.

Jagtar Singh was arrested by Punjab police from Rama Mandi in Jalandhar on November 4 and he was presented before a duty magistrate by Baghapurana police on November 5. The court had sent him on police remand till November 10.

Punjab police has booked Jagtar Singh and 4 other persons arrested so far, in Jagdish Gagneja, Ravinder Gosain and other cases.
