Police, Sikh bodies resolved lock – Rihai March resumes; March receives good response from Sangat

Amritsar, Punjab (December 04, 20130: As per recent information the Sikh bodies and Punjab police has resolved lock over the ‘Bandi Singh Rihai March’.

Bhai Amrik Singh Isru, who was participating in the March at Amritsar informed Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) that after the police stopped the Sikh sangat near Jallianwala Bagh, the Sikh sangat had started a dharna and more Sikhs were joining the protests.

The police administration, including Amritsar SSP, and Jathedar Akal Takht approached the Sikh sangat and offered that the march could proceed under the leadership of Sant Samaj leaders Bhai Jasbir Sindh Rodey and Baba Sukhchain Singh Dharmpura, but the Sikh sangat did not agree to it.

As per information Bhai Harpal Singh Cheema of Akali Dal Panch Pardhani (ADPP) clarified that the march was started from Akal Takht Sahib under the leadership of five Sikhs holding Nishan Sahibs, and it can’t accept anyone else’s command mid-way.

“The police said that they would hold me responsible for the conduct of march if anything untoward happens, and we accepted it and ensured that that the march was part of a peaceful struggle started by Bhai Gurbaksh Singh and the participants won’t break the discipline set by the Sikh bodies and Bhai Gurbaksh Singh” Bhai Cheema told Sikh Siyasat News over phone.

As per information a police party led by Amritsar SP Parampal Singh is now escorting the march.

According to Sikh Siyasat source police had prevented Baba Baljeet Singh Daduwal from proceeding towards Amritsar, but he is now allowed to join the march.

The march shall pass through Jalandhar, Ludhaina, Samrala, Morinda and Kharar before reaching Amb Sahib (Mohali) where Bhai Gurbaksh Singh is observing fast unto death since November 14 seeking release of Bhai Gurmit Singh, Shamsher Singh, Lakhwinder Singh (who are confined in Burrail Jail, Chandigarh since 1995), Bhai Lal Singh (who was arrested in 1992 by Gujrat police and is currently confined in Maximum security jail Nabha) and Bhai Gurdip Singh (who is confined in Gurbarg Jail of Karnataka for last 23 years). These persons have serve their terms of sentence but were not being released by respective state governments.

According to information march is receiving good response from the Sikh sangats.
