December 21, 2013 | By

Ludhiana, Punjab (December 21, 2013): Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) sources revealed that the police administrations was constantly denying bail to Gurpreet Singh Guri Hans under political pressure. Guri Hans had attempted to use the stage of so-called World Kabaddi Cup on November 14, 2013 during final match at Ludhiana. He was booked by Division Number 8 police station of Ludhiana under 107/151 (Cr. P. C.), preventive detention clauses. He was sent to Ludhiana jail.

It is notable that due to application of Police Commissioner system in Ludhiana the power to grant bail in these cases lies with the police (in normal situation this power lies with the magistrate).

Sikh Siyasat sources revealed bail bond and document work regarding Guri Hans bail was completed earlier this week but he remains behind the bars because of political pressure.

“The Deputy Commissioner told me that it was an ‘international issue’ and the Ludhaina police can not grant bail to Gurpreet Singh (Guri Hans) unless express directions in this regard are received from the Home Minstry of Punjab government”, Guri Hans’s council told Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) over phone.

Some Sikh organizations have given a call to hold a protest demonstration outside Ludhiana Police commissioner’s office on December 21, 2013.
