Political tragedy of Sikhs in India – 30 years on, Sikh politicians urging Indian rulers to set-up another probe on Sikh Genocide 1984

New Delhi, India (July 1, 2014): Thirty years have passed since Sikhs were subjected to genocidal violence in India, and it could be termed as a political tragedy of politically subjugated Sikh nation in India that it’s politicians were still urging Indian rulers to form probe panels, though eleven such panels have already failed to yield any results in terms of punishment to the culprits and justice to the victims.
As per recent reports a delegation of leaders of Delhi unit of Shiromani Akali Dal Badal (SAD-B) led by Delhi Sikh Gurdwara president Manjit Singh GK met Indian Home minister Rajanath Singh on Tuesday (July 01) in the matter of November 1984 Sikh genocide.

According to a report published by Ajit newspaper, the delegation told Rajnath Singh how the victims of the genocide facing injustice for last 30 years. The Akali leaders requested him to form a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the supervision of Supreme Court of India.
Earlier, Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and his son deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal had met Rajanath Singh and Narendera Modi and requested to form the SIT.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Aam Aadmi Party leader and then New Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal had proposed such SIT to probe the cases of Sikh genocide.
Comprising Manjit Singh GK, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Harmeet Singh Kalka, Onkar Singh Thaper and Kuldeep Singh Bhogal, the delegation complained to the home minister that the officials of Nangloi police station had registered an FIR against Sajjan Singh in 1992 but the Chargesheet was not submitted in the court even after 22 years.
The delegation also discussed the pending case of monument of Sikh martyrs at Gurdwara Rajabgunj Sahib. They also requested him to reopen the closed cases of Kanpur Sikh genocide. Rajnath Singh assured the delegation to solve the discussed matter at the earliest, the report added.
