Chandigarh: In a major setback for the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) a dozen leaders of the party joined the Congress fold under the leadership of former Punjab CM Capt. Amarinder Singh.
BSP leaders who left their party to join the Congress party alleged that the state and central leadership of BSP was in secret understanding with the ruling combine of Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) and the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP).
BSP leaders who joined the Congress party today included Jarnail Singh Nangal (former party candidate from Phagwara) and Samittar Singh Sikri (former party candidate from Sham Chaurasi). Others who joined today included Vijay Pandori, Amarjit Khuttan, Jatinder Mohan, Sukhdev Singh Chaukria, Parminder Both, Beant Singh Bawa, Ginai Husan Lal, Ms Jaswinder Kaur, Balwinder Singh Bodh and Balvir Thakur.
They were inducted into the Congress by the Punjab Congress chief Capt Amarinder Singh in the presence of senior party leaders including Rana Gujreet Singh, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa, Sukh Sarkaria and others.
