Patiala, Punjab (August 01, 2014): With the filing of 3 more nominations today, total 5 candidates have been in the fray in Patiala assembly constituency, while 3 nominations have been filed in Talwandi Sabo constituency till August 1, 2014.
Meanwhile there are reports that Aam Aadmi Party has cut-off the ticket of Singer Balkar Sidhu who was previously declared an AAP candidate from Talwandi Sabo. Educator Baljinder Kaur is declared new candidate of AAP from Talwandi Sabo. Baljinder Kaur would file nomination from Talwandi Sabo tomorrow.
Punjab’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) V.K. Singh said that for the by-election of Patiala assembly constituency Harjeet Singh Adaltiwala has filed his nomination as the candidate of the Aam Aadmi Party, Balbir Singh as independent candidate and Amrik Singh as candidate of New All India Congress Party on August 01, while Bhagwan Dass of Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) and Rajinder Singh Pawar as an independent candidate have already filed their nomination papers.
CEO further said that 3 candidates namely Jeet Mohinder Singh Sidhu of Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal), Harminder Singh Jassi and his wife Manmeet Kaur of Indian National Congress Party have today filed their nomination papers in Talwandi Sabo assembly constituency.
He reiterated that candidates could file their nomination papers before the concerned Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM)-cum-Returning Officers between 11:00 am to 3:00 pm till August 2, 2014. He informed that August 2, being Saturday, is not a holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, so nomination papers would be presented on that day.
V.K. Singh said that Voting for the by-elections on both seats would be held on August 21, 2014, while counting would be held on August 25, 2014.
