Chandigarh/SAS Nagar: Punjab Education Minister O.P. Soni today handed over appointment-cum-offer letters to 257 English and 342 Hindi subject teachers. He also handed over appointment letters to 6 clerks, 3 library restorers, 1 SLA and 16 class four employees on compassionate grounds. It is worth mentioning that appointment letters were given to 2082 teachers in Amritsar out of total 3582 teachers, whereas the matter related to English and Hindi subject teachers went to court. And today, after the court’s verdict, the appointment letters were given to the remaining teachers in Mohali.
On this occasion, Education Minister exhorted the teachers to work diligently and provide quality education to the children. “The role of teachers in making children’s future is important”, he said adding that teachers, who received appointment letters today, should be committed themselves to provide qualitative education to the children of government schools in the state so that our children could survive in this cut and throat competition era.
He categorically said that teachers should have to come on negotiating table to resolve their demands instead of adopting agitation approach. “When the government is ready to accept the legitimate demands of the teachers, then there should be no reason for teachers to go for agitations”, he said. Education Minister said that he is committed to fulfill all vacant posts in schools.
Krishan Kumar, Secretary, School Education, Prashant Kumar Goyal, Director General School Education, Sukhjit Pal Singh, DPI (Secondary), DS Saroa OSD to Education Minister and other officials of the department were also present on this occasion.
