Punjab Govt. Likely to Raise SYL Canal Issue during Inter-State meeting today

Chandigarh: As per media reports the Punjab government will take up the Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal and critical ground water situation in the state during the inter-state meeting of the Northern Zonal Council. The meeting being hosted by Punjab will take place on Friday (May 12) and it will be chaired by Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh.

The aim of the meeting is said to boost regional cooperation between states and to solve inter-state differences and issues amicably.

“It is learnt that being the host state, Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh during his speech in the meeting will touch the issue of impending water crisis in the state while reiterating that Punjab has no spare water for Haryana”, notes The Tribune (TT).
