Faridkot/ Chandigarh: Punjab government has unleashed it’s full scale repressive tactics against the Sikh Sangat in order to suppress a peaceful struggle demanding legal action against persons involved in sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib.
After firing in Kotkapura, in which a Sikh youth named Ajit Singh was seriously injured, the Punjab Police is reported to have opened fire in Behbal Kalan village where Sikhs were holding a peaceful protest demonstration. Village Behbal Kalan is situated on Kotkapura-Bathinda road.
Sources have confirmed death of two Sikhs where as some other persons have also sustained bullet injuries. Injured persons have been admitted to Faridkot Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
As per information Sikh Sangat was holding a peaceful sit-in demonstration at village Behbal Kalan against police action in Kotkapura. They were demanding arrest of persons involved in committing sacrilege of Guru Granth Shaib in Baryari village. The police reportedly opened fire against the Sikh sangat after the Sikhs refused to life their demonstration.
Two persons killed in firing include a youth and a mid-aged Sikh. Their names and other details were not available at the time of writing this news.
Sikh organizations have strongly condemned police firing. In a written statement sent to the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN), the Dal Khalsa and Akali Dal Panch Pardhani said that Badal Government was directly responsible for these events.
