Punjab police opens 23 year old TADA case against Prof. Bhullar

Amritsar: The Punjab police has reportedly opened a 23 year old TADA case against Sikh political prisoner Prof. Devender Pal Singh Bhullar. Prof. Bhullar, who was shifted from Delhi’s Tihar jail to Amritsar last year, was produced before a designated TADA court in Amritsar today amidst tight security arrangements.

Prof. DPS Bhullar’s counsel Advo. Jaspal Singh Manjhpur told Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) that Prof. Bhullar was presented before Surinder Singh Sahni, designated TADA judge (Amritsar), in relation to a case registered at Sadar Batala police station in 1992.

“The case, wide FIR no. 233/92 was registered under sections 3, 4 and 5 of TADA, sec. 307 of IPC and secs. 4 and 5 of Explosives Act at Batala police station” said Advocate JS Manjhpur.

He said that court has issued directions to the Amritsar jail superintendent, civil surgeon Amritsar and other concerned officials to submit a report about medical/ health condition of Prof. Devender Pal Singh Bhullar. The court has fixed March 1 as next date of hearing in this case.

The court has also fixed March 1 as hearing of bail plea in this case.
