Sanaur/ Patiala, Punjab (July 13, 2014): According to a news reported by YesPunjab.Com, a Punjab police SHO Saturday grossly misbehaved with two youth who unintentionally came into the way of his vehicle while he was on his way to the police station of which he is incharge.
SSP Patiala, Hardial Singh Mann has reportedly ordered a probe into the incident.
The SHO, Amandeep Singh Virk, is alleged to have beaten one of the Sikh youth mercilessly in full public view. He also allegedly tossed his turban and dragged the youth by the hair before forcibly taking him away to the police station.
SHO Virk has however denied all the charges levelled against him.
Two bike borne youth came out of a street and came in way of the vehicle of the SHO which has to suddenly apply brakes.
Enraged over the ‘act’ of the youth, the SHO came down from his vehicle and mercilessly beat the youth. He is also alleged to have injured the youth on his face by using the ‘butt’ of his revolver.
As the incident happened amidst the busy Sanaur Bazar, shopkeepers went to police station to get the detained youth released but Virk was so enraged that he ordered lathi-charge on the shopkeepers in which many were injured.
Annoyed over the behaviour of the SHO, the residents then blocked the road in front of Sanaur Bus Stand. The protesters demanded the suspension of of the SHO.
YesPunjab.com talked to SHO Virk, who said that nothing of the sort has happened. He said whatever has been reported in the media was ‘wrong’. He claimed that he didn’t toss the turban or pull the Sikh youth by the hair.
Asked that how he was denying something that happened in full public view, he said those protesting against him were the people booked by Sanaur Police in various cases of ‘Satta’ and smack.
According to YesPunjab.com, Hardial Singh Mann, SSP Patiala said that he has ordered an inquiry into the incident. “SP Headquarters Jaskaran Teja has been asked to enquire and submit detailed report within two days. The action would depend on the enquiry report”, he said.
