Rape case against Sauda Sadh: When Defence “Witness” failed to defend controversial godman

Panchkula/ Chandigarh (July 07, 2014): Situation turned awkward for Dera Sauda Sirsa head Gurmeet Ram Rahim in a Panchkula court, few days back, when a defence witness, who had come to defend the controversial godman in a rape case, got confused and even “failed” to identify dera chief.

DSS head is facing serious criminal charges, including charges of rape, sexual abuse of Sadhvis and murder of a former dera Manager, in CBI court.

As per information Gurmeet Ram Rahim arrived with his supporters in the court of sessions Judge Sirsa, from where he was connected to CBI court of Panchkula via video conferencing. On the other hand a number of supporters of the controversial godman were present outside CBI court at Panchkula.

As per information a defence witness Amarnath presented by dera head’s lawyer in the court of Justice R. K. Yadav. Amarnath reportedly failed to answer queries of CBI’s lawyers. He even failed to identify dera head before the court.

The court has fixed 19 July, 2014 as next date for hearing in this case.

Earlier, Gurmeet Ram Rahim had claimed that he was impotent and incapacitated to have sex.
