Rejected and disgraced Jathedar’s have no moral right and authority to take decisions: Dal Khalsa

Amritsar: In the light of Takhat Jathedar’s meeting scheduled for Dec 14 to discuss about the controversy generated after gurdwara in UAE had altered some portion of Ardas, the Dal Khalsa has reasserted that rejected and disgraced Jathedar’s have no moral right and authority to take decisions on behalf of Panth.

Ever since Gaini Gurbachan Singh, Gaini Mal Singh, Gaini Gurmukh Singh and Gaini Iqbal Singh has pardoned Sirsa dera head Gurmeet Ram Rahim in violation of traditions and going against the collective wish of the community, the Sikhs at large have rejected them, said party’s senior leaders H S Dhami and Kanwar Pal Singh.

How come these jathedar’s who had lost their credibility and integrity, take decisions on behalf of the Khalsa Panth, they wondered. One thing is clear, whatever and whenever they would decide on any matter, it would carry no weight”, they observed.

Slamming Badals, they said it’s ironic that the SGPC and its controlling authority SAD were hurting Sikh sentiments by allowing such disgraceful persons to continue on the post of Jathedar’s. The ruling party’s blatant interference in SGPC and Akal Takhat’s affairs was highly objectionable and unacceptable.

While talking with the media, they appealed to Sikh scholars to stay away from the scheduled meeting of these jathedar’s and hoped that those whose conscience is alive would not be part of it.

They asked the SGPC to come out of slumber and implement the orders of five beloved ones (Panj Piyare’s) by sacking these four jathedar’s.

Admitting that the issue of ‘arbitrary’ alteration of ardas was cause of concern, they said in case, the said issue warrants immediate resolution than the SGPC should refer the case to its Dharam Parchar wing and for its assistance, Panthic Advisory Board comprising eminent scholars and thinkers of independent standing should be constituted. “Till the present incumbents are not removed and replaced with the ‘sarb-parvanit’ (acceptable to all sections of the community) jathedar’s, all controversial issues should be put on hold, they opined.
