Nabha, Punjab (February 14, 2011): Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur, Bhai Palwinder Singh Shutrana and Bhai Gurdeep Singh Raju are expected to be released from maximum security jail, Nabha today.

“Trio, along with party chairman Bhai Daljeet Singh, were granted bail by Punjab and Haryana High court on 7 February in a case registered under various sections of UAPA, 1967 at Ludhiana. Bail bonds were duly submitted in the court of CJM, Ludhiana on 11 February and release orders were posted via registered post” informed Mr. Jasvir Singh, organizing secretary of Panch Pardhani. “We expect that the orders shall reach jail today” he added.

On being asked about the expected release of Bhai Daljeet Singh Bittu, he said “AS Bhai Daljeet Singh has been falsely framed by the Punjab police in two more cases; and bail is yet to be applied in those cases, it is expected that his release may take little more time”.

Bhai Daljeet Singh is facing charges of criminal conspiracy (120-B, IPC) and various sections of Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, 1967 (as amended in 2008) at Mansa and Ropar. In these cases he is yet to apply for bail.

SAD (Panch Pardhani) attracted the wrath of ruling regime of Punjab in wake of upcoming SGPC elections. The police crack down against the party leaders and cadres started in August 2009 after arrest of former militant Balbir Singh alias Bhootna from Ludhiana railway station.

On 27 August, 2009 office of Panch Pardhani was raided by the police and office computers and records were seized by the police. Advocate Jaspal Singh, a senior party leader was also arrested. Later, in the evening, Bhai Daljeet Singh Bittu, along with his driver Bhai Palwinder Singh Shutarana, was arrested by the police from his Gurdev Nagar Ludhiana based resident.

“All the three cases registered against Bhai Daljeet Singh and others lack any factual as well as legal base” claimed Jasvir Singh, who further maintained that release of Advo. Jaspal Singh and others would provide a boost to party’s efforts to mobilize the supporters and voters for SGPC elections in targeted constituencies.
