Amritsar: Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar (Mann) has announced to mark the 24th anniversary of Amritsar Declaration on 1 May, 2017 at Amritsar.
SAD (Mann) said in a press release issued in Punjabi on Friday (copy available with the Sikh Siyasat News) that the decision to mark anniversary of Amritsar Declaration was taken after having thorough consultations with various units of the party, including the party units abroad.
SAD (Mann) said in its press release that the Amritsar Declaration was drafted at Akal Takht Sahib by Panth’s political, religious and social leadership for complete independence of the Sikh Panth.
This document (Amritsar Declaration) was drafted in the presence of the then Akal Takht Shaib jathedar Prof. Manjit Singh, the statement reads further.
SAD (Mann) also released a photograph along with the press release stating that this photograph was the proof that the then ‘Panthic leadership’, including Capt. Amarinder Singh, S. Gurcharan Singh Tohra, S. Simranjit Singh Mann, Surjit Singh Barnala, Jagdev Singh Talwandi, Col. Jasmer Singh Bala and Sukhdev Singh Bhurakona had accented to the Amritsar Declaration and were also present during the announcement of the declaration.
SAD (Mann) spokesperson Iqbal Singh Tiwana said that the SAD (Mann) would also inaugurates its office at Amritsar on May 01.
