Fatehgarh Sahib: In a written statement issued today, the Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar (Mann) demanded registration of cases under section 295-A in relation of an incident in which ten Saroops of Guru Granth Sahib were burnt in Gurudwara Baba Beer Singh (Naurangabad) at Bahak Fattu village near Zira.

SAD (Mann) president Simranjeet Singh Mann said that the Bahak Fattu incident has brought deep grief to the entire Sikh panth. He said the Badal-BJP government can not be absolved of responsibility for its failure to prevent such incidents.

S. Mann demanded that the culprits should be punished under section 295-A and the government must ensure that such incidents are not repeated.

According to government officials the fire in Gurdwara Sahib was triggered by electric short circuit.

Deputy Commissioner said that a fan was repaired in the Gurdwara this morning. Since the previous Granthi had been removed by the panchayat, there was no one present there when the electrician left. The DC added that some fault or loose wiring probably triggered the fire.
