Ropar (December 1, 2010): The leaders of Shiromani Akali Dal (Panch Pardhani) have alleged that Cases registered by Punjab Government against Bhai Daljeet Singh Bittu are instances of misuse of process of law. Bhai Harpal Singh Cheema, Jasvir Singh Khandur, Surinder Singh Kishanpura and Daljeet Singh Nawanshahr, who were here to attend the court proceedings of a case against Panch Pardhani Chairman Bhai Daljeet Singh Bittu, told reporters that Government is framing flase cases against Sikh leaders and process of Law is being misused. They further alledged that no charge has been leveled against Bhai Bittu in Ropar case, still he is not being discharged.During Court proceedings, today, Bhai Bittu’s council Advocate Sarbjeet Singh informed Addn. Sessions Judge V. R. Garg that Daljeet Singh Bittu’s name does appear in the chargesheet filed by the police thus he should be discharged.
The prosecution lawyer admitted the fact, however he claimed that the Government may frame a charge of criminal conspiracy against Daljeet Singh Bittu, therefore he should not be discharged. But when he was asked to furnish any evidence proving the case of conspiracy, prima facie, against Daljeet Singh Bittu, the he failed to respond. Later the hearing was adjourned till 9 December.
Bhai Daljeet Singh Bittu, during short interaction with selected media persons, said that the government is opposing his bail application in Punjab and Haryana High Court by making a reference to ‘number of cases’ pending against him. He alledged that Government is failing to file admisible charges against him, but on the other hand trying to use number of cases to oppose bail.
