New Delhi: An Indian Court today granted anticipatory bail to Congress leader Sajjan Kumar in the 1984 Sikh massacre related case.
The Dwarka Court asked Sajjan Kumar to furnish a personal bond and surety bond of Rs 1 lakh.
The court had on Tuesday reserved the order on anticipatory bail plea in a case related to Sikh genocide 1984 in which Sajjan Kumar is a prime accused.
He filed a plea in district court of Dwarka for anticipatory bail in the case that is being investigated by the SIT constituted by the Union Government along with the CBI. Harvinder Singh is complainant in the case who is witness in the murder of Sohan Singh and Avtar Singh at Vikaspuri in West Delhi during the massacre.
Advocate HS Phoolka said Sajjan Kumar was summoned by the SIT but he just confirmed his name and nothing else. Thereafter, the SIT sought his custodial interrogation following which Sajjan filed a plea for interim bail.
Three decades of Impunity and denial of Justice:
It is notable that high ups in the Congress party and the Indian administration perpetrated the Sikh genocidal violence against the Sikhs in November 1984, in which thousands of Sikhs were massacred throughout India. Culprits of the genocidal massacres of Nov. 1984 have enjoyed impunity and high political posts during past three decades where as the victims of the massacre were left to perish as the justice was blatantly denied in these cases.
