Fatehgarh Sahib/ Punjab (December 16, 2013): According to information available with the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) the Sikh sangat led by Bhai Amarjit Singh Kanakwal (Damdami Taksal), Baba Hardeep Singh Mehraj (Akali Dal Panch Pardhani) and Bhai Sukhwinder Singh (Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satikar Sabha, Haryana) started a Bandi Singhs Rihai Morcha from Takht Damdama Sahib at around 12 noon today. The march was reportedly delayed by two hours due to dense fog.

The march aims at spreading awareness about the cause of Sikh political prisoners and to extend support to Bandi Singhs Riahi Morcha initiated by Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa.

Baba Hardeep Singh Mehraj and Bhai Sukhwinder Singh Khalsa told Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) over phone that the march is receiving tremendous response from local Sikh sangats.

Started from Damdama Sahib, the march passed through Maur, Mansa, Bhikhi, Sunam, Bhawanigarh, Nabha, Bhadson and was about to reach Fatehgarh Sahib at the time of writing this news (16:34 IST).

It is notable that Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa’s hunger strike has entered 32nd day today. He is seeking release of 6 Sikh political prisoners namely – Bhai Gurmeet Singh, Lakhwinder Singh, Shamsher Singh, Wariam Singh, Gurdeep Singh Khaira and Lal Singh. These individuals are languishing in various Indian jails despite having completed the terms of their sentences.

It may be recalled that the organizers of the Bandi Singh Riahi Morcha issued an urgent appeal for Sikhs in UP on December 16, 2013 to join the move for securing release of Wariam Singh.
