Set-back for Badal-BJP in Amritsar: Election Commission restricts movement of Bikram Majithia

Chandigarh/ Punjab (April 28, 2014): It is learnt that the Election Commission of India has restricted the movement of Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) leader and Punjab minister Bikram Majithia to his polling station area from where he is an elector after campaign period is over.

As per media reports V.K. Singh, Chief Election Officer of Punjab said that according to a communiqué received from Election Commission of India, Bikram Majithia would not visit any other part of any assembly segment of the 02-Amritsar Parliamentary Constituency (including 13-Majitha AC).

The Commission has also directed to keep his movements under surveillance and video-graphed with immediate effect.

Meanwhile, the ECI has also directed that Gurpreet Singh Gill, SSP Amritsar (Rural) should be asked to report to Police Headquarters at Chandigarh and Balkar Singh, IPS, DIG Crime, Headquarters should supervise his work up to completion of poll on April 30.
