New York: US based rights group “Sikhs For Justice” (SFJ) has announced to live telecast Referendum 2020 Conference to be held in Dallas, Texas on July 29.
A release by Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) states that July 29th live telecast of “Referendum 2020” conference will be aired via Facebook feed and Youtube gateway. The New York based lawyer Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, legal advisor to SFJ and Jatinder Singh Grewal, International Policy Director from Canada, will address the conference.
It is notable that SFJ’s Facebook page is blocked by the Indian Government and it is not accessible in Punjab or elsewhere in the Indian Subcontinent.
SFJ announced that questions will also be taken from viewers on the issues of Sikhs’ right to self determination; historical grounds of Sikh sovereignty; and provisions of international law guaranteeing peoples’ right to demand independence referendum.
“Although Punjab government is trying to muzzle the democratic referendum campaign by removing hoardings, we will continue to spread awareness about Sikhs’ right to self determination through social and electronic media”, stated attorney Gurpatwant Singh Pannun.
“Unlike, Capt. Amarinder, we believe in democracy and ballot. We invite Punjab CM and his Cabinet to watch live telecast of Referendum conference, we will answer their dissenting questions and let the people of Punjab be the judge”, added attorney Pannun.
The non-binding “Referendum 2020” will be managed by independent reputable organizations and monitored by international NGOs and human rights activists. In year 2020, besides the State of Punjab, polling will be held in major cities of North America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Kenya and the Middle Eastern Countries.
