SGGS World University Holds Physiotherapy, Homeopathy Camp and Other Activities on the 2nd day of Gurpurab Celebrations

Fatehgarh Sahib: Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib continued to celebrate the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Ji’s Parkash Gurpurab on the second day as well on Thursday. The University organised a free physiotherapy and homeopathy camp at University campus. Dr. Sukhdarshan Singh Khehra, Vice Chancellor inaugurated the camps. More than 200 patients from Fatehgarh Sahib and neighbouring districts took advantage of the free services at the camp.

A mega-plantation drive was organised at the University premises to drive home the importance of living in a clean and pollution free environment. Dr. Sukhdarshan Singh Khehra, Vice Chancellor and Dr. Pritpal Singh, Registrar of the university were at the forefront of the drive. The Vice-chancellor said that it is our moral and social responsibility to protect our environment and dedicated this plantation drive to the simple life style which Guru Nanak proposed and practised. The students and the faculty enthusiastically participated in the drive. Authorities informed that it has been decided to plant 550 trees on the 550th Birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Ji.

The University also hosted students from schools of neighbouring cities and organised poster-making and slogan writing competition on the Life, teachings and travels of Guru Nanak Ji. A Declamation Contest was organised by the Department of Punjabi at the University. Dr. Sukhdarshan Singh Khehra, Vice Chancellor of the University graced the occasion as Chief Guest and gave away prizes to the winners. He congratulated the students and the faculty on the eve of the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji and appreciated the efforts of the faculty for enthusiastically celebrating the birth anniversary of the Founder of Faith. Dr. Pritpal Singh, Registrar of the University and Co-ordinator, Prof. Swaraj Raj, Head, Department of English, Dean Languages and Chief Co-ordinator, and staff and students were present on the occasion.
