The decision was reported to have been taken at a meeting of the concerned committee held at Chandigarh, which was presided over by Party President Sukhbir Singh Badal. Party Patron Parkash Singh Badal, father of Sukhbir, also attended the meeting in which SGPC Chief Jathedar Avtar Singh, Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, Gurdev Singh Badal, Tota Singh, Nirmal Singh Kahlon, Balwinder Singh Bhunder, Prem Singh Chandumajra, Maheshinder Singh Grewal, Janmeja Singh Sekhon, Sewa Singh Sekhwan and Daljit Singh Cheema also participated.
Party Secretary and Spokesman Daljit Singh Cheema said that it was also decided in the meeting that party would hold separate meetings of district presidents, MPs, MLAs and other senior leaders from August 2nd to 5th to finalise the preparations for these polls.
Badal Dal is currently controlling affairs of SGPC, the body largely responsible for managing affairs of historic Sikh Gurudwaras. There have been constant allegations of corruption and miss-utilization of funds, besides other misdeeds, by Badal’s regime in SGPC. Badals are able to keep control over the body with alleged use of corruptive methods during elections.
