Amritsar, Punjab: A day after newspapers highlighted SGPC move to restrict media entry at it’s amritsar based headquarters, the Sikh body reportedly lifted the restrictions. The noticed placed by SGPC at a noticed board outside Teja Singh Samundari Hall had stated that no media persons were allowed at SGPC office without prior permission of SGPC official Daljit Singh Bedi.
“Nobody from the media will enter the premises until invited by the SGPC. If any mediaperson has some important work, he should first contact SGPC additional secretary Diljeet Singh Bedi and meet him at his office only. For this, the mediaperson will also have to make an entry at the entrance”, the notice (in Gurmukhi) read.
The issue was highlighted by various media sections after which SGPC issued a press release on Sept. 12 stating that said there were strict instructions from SGPC chief Avtar Singh Makkar that there should be no restriction on the entry of mediapersons at the SGPC headquarters.In this statement SGPC spokesperson Diljeet Singh Bedi said Makkar has also issued orders to take off the notice put up on the SGPC notice board.
Many media sections had criticised SGPC for restriction entry of media in SGPC headquarters.
