SGPC seeks apology from US based Glen Cove Gurdwara management after offensive photos went viral

New York: The photograph of a young woman in bridal attire, posing before the Guru Granth Sahib inside a Gurdwara Sahib in Glen Cove town of New York, has triggered a controversy after it went viral over social media.

The photo extensively shared on Facebook shows the bride, Sonal Parmar, sitting with her back to the Guru Granth Sahib.

Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) chief Avtar Singh Makkar has sought details of the incident from the president/ manager of the concerned Gurdwara Sahib.

The photo reveals that it was an act of disrespect towards Guru Grant Sahib that amounts violation of Sikh religious traditions and customs, said SGPC President Avtar Singh Makkar.

The SGPC chief pointed out that such postures in front of the Guru Granth Sahib were prohibited.

Avtar Singh Makkar has sought an apology from the management of the Glen Cove Gurdwara Sahib.
