Amb Sahib/ Macchiwara (December 25,2 013): It is interesting to note that Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC), which raised hindrances before the Bandi Singhs Rihai Morcha has now started claiming that it was actively taking up cause of Sikh prisoners for years.

Bandi Singhs Rihai Morcha (Amb Sahib) was started on November 14, 2013 by a Haryana based Sikh Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa seeking release of 6 Sikh political prisoners who have completed the terms of their sentences. Instead of extending helping hand, SGPC President Avtar Singh Makkar had termed the morcha as an interference in the internal matters of SGPC, and thus intolerable, as the morcha site falls inside the Gurdwara Amb Sahib (Mohali) land under control of SGPC.

But now when the Sikh masses have taken up the cause of Sikh prisoners, SGPC president has completely changed his tone. During a press conference at Machhiwara Avtar Singh Makkar said that the SGPC was regularly taking up the cause of Sikh prisoners, who have completed the terms of their sentences.

He said that the SGPC was passing resolutions in this regard for last many years.

Meanwhile, there is growing dis-satisfaction and anger among the Sikh masses over the negative role played by SGPC administration in struggle seeking release of Sikh prisoners.
