Amritsar, Punjab: The Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) has urged the Pakistan government to protect the Sikhs in Pakistan. SGPC chief Avtar Singh Makkar said that Sikhs in Pakistan are living in terror.

In a statement issued the SGPC president said eight Sikhs had lost their lives in the past 18 months.

“Sikhs living in Pakistan feel insecure and are being killed in targeted attacks because of which they are unable to lead their lives normally. Their businesses face closure and they are unable to continue the education of their children,” he said.

He maintained that because of the atmosphere of terror, the Sikhs there were also unable to pay obeisance at Nankana Sahib, the birth place of Guru Nanak in Pakistan.
