Shaheed Sikh Missionary College Begins Sahij Path Sahib in Memory of Ragi Bhai Nirmal Singh

Amritsar: Former Hazuri Ragi of Sri Harmandar Sahib (Darbar Sahib) Amritsar Bhai Nirmal Singh Khalsa passed away on Thursday (April 2). He died due to cardiac arrest and was also suffering from coronavirus (COVID19). His Antim Sanskar was held on common ground of Village Verka late last evening. His family members have been quarantined for observation due to suspicion of coronavirus.

Verka Residents Earned Bad-Name by Opposing Antim Sanskar:

Unfortunately, some residents of village Verka, led by Harpal Singh- who is presently in Congress party, played petty politics and created fear psychosis with reference to COVID19 to oppose Antim Sanskar of Bhai Nirmal Singh Khalsa.

As per reports, Harpal Singh along with some other Congress party leaders, get cremation ground locked and incited people to oppose Antim Sanskar of Bhai Nirmal Singh Khalsa.

At last the cremation was held on Shamlat (common ground) of village Verka.

Akal Takht Sahib head granthi Bhai Malkeet Singh performed Ardas during Antim Sankar of Bhai Nirmal Singh that was also attended by his son and officials from Amritsar administration.

Conduct of Verka Residents Invites Strong Rebuttal:

The conduct of Verka residents was strongly condemned by the global Sikh community. It sparked strong wave of condemnation from Sikhs over social media.

No Caste Angle:

Some people have posted over social media that Bhai Nirmal Singh Khalsa’s Antim Saskar at village Verka was opposed because of so-called caste factor.

Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) inquired from multiple sources, including local journalists who cover the issue, it was found that there was no caste issue involved in this matter.

Police Complaint Filed:

Three persons, namely Parvinder Singh (Nawanshehr), Dr. Amarjit Singh Mann (Sangrur) and Kuldip Singh Khehra (Ludhiana) have filed police complaint with Amritsar police seeking strong action against those who opposed Antim Sanskar of Bhai Nirmal Singh Khalsa. Shaheed Sikh Missionary College Begins Sahij Path:

Bhai Nirmal Singh was an alumni of Shaheed Sikh Missionary College, Sri Amritsar. The college staff and management has begun Sahij Path of Sri Guru Granth Sahib, in Bhai Nirmal Singh Khalsa’s memory. College principle Bibi Manjit Kaur said that college staff is staying at residential quarters, who will do sewa during the Sahij Path. The bhog will be held on 11 April, said Bibi Manjit Kaur.
