Chandigarh: Vice-chief of the Punjab unit of Aam Adami Party (AAP) Aman Arora on Friday criticized the Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh for failing to provide mid day meal to the students of state run schools. He termed it shameful and asked is the Punjab government that much financially weak that it is not able to provide the basic facility to the students ?
AAP state co-president Aman Arora in a press release further said that the Punjab government is spending crores of rupees on the projects and issues those are not important for the people at large but is ignoring the basic issues. He said that the govt. is going to spend Rs. 50 Lakhs on organizing Polo matches in the state but have not enough money to provide uniforms, books and meals to the students.
“The state government has to pay 40% of the money of the mid day meal and rest will be provided by the centre government but due to non availability of state funds the centre is not releasing the funds.” Due to the mismanagement of state funds over 20 lakhs students of state are unable to get meal, he adds.
Moreover, while questioning the policies of the Amarinder Singh lead Congress government in Punjab he said the policies of Congress government have turned anti Dalit as the government has stopped the facilities being provided to the Dalits in state. The pensions and other facilities are not being provided from last 6 months. He also asked Amarinder Singh to fulfill promise made during polls.
