Chandigarh/ Punjab (January 13, 2014): It is learnt that the former Punjab DGP Shashi Kant and Dr. D.R. Chaudhary a former chairman of Haryana Public Service Commission formally joined ‘Aam Aadmi Party’ (AAP) on January 14.

The two announced their decision to join AAP at a press conference hosted by AAP senior leaders Yogendra Yadav and Rajeev Godara.

Yadav and Godara welcomed Shashi Kant and Chaudhary in the party and offered them ‘Aam Aadmi’ Caps.

Meanwhile, as per media reports, the ‘Aam Aadmi Party’ (AAP) has ruled out any alliance with People’s Party of Punjab led by Manpreet Badal. It is notable that Manpreet Singh Badal had himself lobbied hard to have any kind of arrangement with Aam Aadmi Party. He had offered to even merge People’s Party of Punjab in Aam Aadmi Party.

Addressing a press conference at Press Club here senior party leader Yogendra Yadav cleared the air about the reported alliance of AAP with PPP.

Specially asked about possibility of any alliance with Manpreet Badal’s party, Yogendra Yadav ruled out any truck with estranged nephew of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.

Yogendra Yadav seemed more than clear about his party line on the subject when he said, “I do not see it happening anywhere on the cards”.

Elaborating further on the question of alliance with Manpreet Badal’s PPP, he said, “We are very sceptic about people from other parties joining AAP”, adding that ‘It is not a template for AAP’.

The announcement could be considered as a big blow for Manpreet Badal and People’s Party of Punjab as Manpreet Singh Badal as Manpreet was sure that PPP would be the most suitable partner for AAP in Punjab.

It may also be recalled that AAP leaders have recently announced to go alone and fight all 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab.
