Sikh bodies want DSGMC to display history of Baba Baghel Singh’s victory over Delhi at Tis Hazari

Delhi, India (January 11, 2013): It is learnt that representatives of various Sikh bodies of Delhi and Mumbai, including Sikhi Sidak, Young Sikh Leaders, Voice of Voiceless, ASYO, Youth Sikh, Tegh Martial Arts today held a meeting with officials of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, including to Manjit Singh GK, president of DSGMC, Tanwant Singh (Vice President), Harmeet Singh (Joint Secretary).

Representatives of concered Sikh bodies demanded that the DSGMC should take initiative to put display boards at Tis Hazari displaying historical briefs regarding victory of Baba Baghel Singh over Delhi.

The letter submitted jointly by Sikh bodies to DSGMC president notes that: “Tis Hazari” gets its name from a force of 30,000 Sikhs, which encamped here under military general Baghel Singh in 1783,  prior to attacking Delhi.

“Every important building has its information boards displaying it’s history and background. Why not Tis Hazari?”, Sikh bodies asked in their letter.

According to a press release sent to the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) by Jagminder Singh: “Manjit Singh GK assured the delegation that DSGMC shall approach Delhi Government for putting up boards reagding the victory of Delhi by Baba Baghel Singh Ji”.

“He also assured the delegation that the display baords will be put up before March 15”, the press release reads.

“In addition to this, DSGMC president announced to hold a Kirtan Darbar in the premises of Red Fort on the eve of Victory of Delhi by Baba Baghel Singh Ji”.
