New Delhi, India (July 20, 2013): According to media reports the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has demanded the formation of “special investigation team” (SIT) to conduct fresh probe into the killing of innocent Sikhs during November 1984.

DSGMC president Manjit Singh GK reportedly said on July 19, 2013 that the government had accepted two out of three demands put up prior to ending of fast by November 1984 massacre survivor-cum-witness Bibi Nirpreet Kaur. Bibi Nirpreet Kaur had conducted a protest fast at Jantar Mantar earlier in May 2013 after an Indian court acquitted Sajjan Kumar, an Indian politician who perpetuated genocidal massacre of Sikhs in November 1984 in Delhi.

According to Times of India (TOI), DSGMC president Manjeet Singh GK said: “Formation of SIT will instill a sense of faith for justice in hearts of Sikhs who are waiting for justice even 29 years after the brutal massacre”, while adding that “DSGMC would extend every possible support to the SIT for conducting a fair inquiry”.

It is notable that justice had been denied to the Sikhs for past 29 years and culprits of Sikh genocide 1984 were protected and patronized by the Indian state.
