New Delhi (September 10, 2012): As the the 29th anniversary of the 1984 genocidal violence against Sikhs is marking up, various NGOs, human rights bodies, socio-religious organizations are planning to start a public campaign.
According to reports This campaign shall begin in the first week of November and the aim is to create awareness among the masses about the facts, including the fact of denial of justice to the victims of Sikh genocide 1984. The aim would be highlight the cases of people, still awaiting justice even after 29 years.
According to media reports Supreme Court lawyer H. S. Phoolka will be organizing the campaign. Phoolka has informed that the campaign would be initiated from New Delhi and it will commence with Sri Akhand Paath sahib, uninterrupted recitation of scared Gurbani from Sikh Scripture from 1 to 3 November 2012 at Gurudwara Bangla Sahib.
According to information on November 3, 2012 as many as three thousand turbans, each bearing the name of a victim killed during the bloody days of November 1984, will be displayed either at India Gate or at Jantar Mantar.
H. S. Phoolka and former journalist Jarnail Singh reportedly met Sri Akal Takhat Sahib Jathedar, Giani Gurbachan Singh.
“The Jathedar has told us that he will consult the heads of the other Takhts before arriving at a decision on whether to allow such a display of the Sikh head gear or not. We respect his views and will wait for his verdict,” said Advocate Phoolka.
