Sikh groups criticized arrest of Sant Samaj leader Baba Baljeet Singh Daduwal

Jalandhar/Amritsar, Punjab (December 27, 2012): It is learnt that Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), Khalsa Action Committee, Dal Khalsa and some other Sikh groups have condemned the arrest of Sikh preacher Baba Baljeet Singh Daduwal. The organizations have reportedly warned the governments of Punjab and Haryana of an agitation if Baba Daduwal was not released.

SAD (Amritsar) president Simranjit Singh Mann reportedly said that he had asked Baba Baljeet Singh Daduwal to come to India as a program was to be planned regarding the reconstruction of Gurdwara Waraich near Dera Radha Soami Beas.

As per YesPunjab.Com news report, the “Sikh Groups including SAD (Amritsar) and Panthic Sewa Lehar had resolved the issue of Gurdwara Waraich during their meetings with Baba Gurinder Singh Dhillon, the head of Radha Soami sect and Chief of Dera Radha Soami Beas. Mann said that Baba Daduwal was to address Sikh Sangat today on the occasion of Shaheedi Jor Mela. He warned Haryana Government that the Sikh Sangat would start an agitation in case Baba Daduwal was not released immediately”.

Bhai Mohkam Singh, Convener of the Khalsa Action Committee (KAC) said that it was unfortunate that Baba Baljeet Singh Daduwal was allowed by the government of Punjab to be arrested from Amritsar. He said by doing so, the Punjab Government had committed a blunder.

Coming down heavily on the government of Punjab, Bhai Mohkam Singh said that it has not been able to take action against Gurmit Ram Raheem, the head of Dera Sirsa who had hurt the religious sentiments of Sikhs but had been instrumental in getting Baba Daduwal arrested at the hands of Haryana Police.

Dal Khalsa spokesman Kanwar Pal Singh also criticized Punjab Government for allowing Haryana Police to arrest Baba Daduwal from Amritsar. Referring to the case against Baba Daduwal in Haryana in which he had been probably declared proclaimed offrender, Kanwar Pal Singh said that Baba Daduwal had been to Haryana so many times during last five years but was not arrested by Haryana Police there.

He said that Haryana Police had arrested Baba Daduwal as part of a deep rooted conspiracy. He warned that Sikh Groups would be left with no option but to plan an agitation to get Baba Daduwal released at the earliest.
