Amritsar: Whereas various Hindutva elements are blaming ‘beef eaters’ for flood catastrophe in Kerala, more Sikh groups are coming forward to extend helping hands to people of Kerala on humanitarian grounds.
The Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) and Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) have sent relief material to the people of flood-ravaged Kerala. Both the Sikh Gurdwara management bodies have sent their delegations along with food materials and cook to set up langars in flood-affected areas. Relief
SGPC chief Gobind Singh Longowal on Monday (Aug. 20) said that they had dispatched a 36 member team to Kerala along with relief material.
The first consignment of packaged food for flood-hit Kerala was air-lifted from Adampur airbase.
International humanitarian aid organization ‘Khalsa Aid’ is already engaged in relief work in Kerala. The Sikh body is already serving meals to more than eight thousand persons daily. Khalsa Aid CEO Ravi Singh told BBC that their humanitarian aid group will expand its operations in Kerala to held the distressed people.
